Once I came to
Methodist University, I fell in love. I loved the campus and how the professors
and the classes are. I love being in small classes. I work better with more
attention than being in a lecture room full of 200 students. Also, the campus
is quiet for the most part. I was very excited to start a major, Criminal Justice,
which I really wanted to pursue for the rest of my life. I love anything that
has to do with crime and the law. I’ve known for a while now that I’ve I wanted
to work in that field. I have always wanted to be a District Attorney or an
Assistant District Attorney.
My freshman year
was great, I met a lot of new friends, my grades were where they needed to be,
and I played basketball. I thought I would be graduating from Methodist. At the
beginning of this year, my sophomore year things started to change. I was told
by my parents that I would have to transfer. My plans are to transfer to UNC
Pembroke. At this point I don’t know where I will be graduating from, but when
I do graduate in two to three years I will be graduating from some university
with a B.A in Criminal Justice with a minor in either Law or Sociology.
Whatever school I attend
after this year I hope to get internships to help me get a good job offer once
I graduate. One of the jobs that a criminal justice major can start out with is
working for the government as a prosecuting attorney. I want a job in my field
that will get me money. Even if I don’t get a criminal justice job right out of
college because I’m not that experienced yet, I do plan on going to graduate school
to get my Masters in Justice Studies as well. My goal is to go to the
University of South Florida because it has a great Criminal Justice/Law
program. I will need to keep my grades up at in order to succeed that goal. Ideally
between five to ten years, I would be married. If I had a husband know I will
want as much support from my husband, as I always got from my mom and dad. I
would always give my husband the same support for what he wants to accomplish
in life just like he will support me and my dreams.
If everything
works out the way I want it to, about ten years from now, then my next step
after graduate school will be Law School. What I want to do, and where I want
to go in life are going to be a long, tough journey but I know it’ll be worth
it in the end when I have the career I want, the house I want, the car I want
and most importantly the children I want. I hope to have a wonderful family
that God will bless me with. What I want for my future is not impossible. All
it takes is a lot of hard work, so when I meet my goals and get to where I want
to be, I will know I’ve done what I am supposed to be doing. All I ever wanted
was to better my future. I just want to make my parents proud as well as
myself.
Twenty years from
now, I see myself working at the top law firm in the country. I’ll be still
married and have kids that I’ll adore so much by my side. Twenty years from now
I’ll be 39 going on 40 years old. I plan on having the same job all my working life
so I won’t retire until I have to. Why would someone stop working at something
that they love doing? I feel like if I enjoy the job or the career that I have,
then I wouldn’t call it work. If someone doesn’t like their job or career then
that person didn’t apply themselves or they just didn’t care what their future
looked like. All I want is to be is successful.
I would love to be successful so when my parents get older, I will have
the money to be able to take care of my family and do the things that need to
be done. My parents have done so much for me that they deserve anything that
they want. I’m glad that they enabled and supported me to go to college, so now
I can continuously apply myself to be successful. I know God has a plan for me,
and I know that my future will be bright and at the end of the day all I can do
is thank Him, my parents and other people who help and support me on the
journey to success.
